The Junior Suite

Riselle Celestina of The Traveling Island Girl shares her experiences of affordable accommodations in Anguilla. Here is her story on The Junior Suite:

Located on the road to Blowing Point you will find The Junior Suite. Run by the charming owner of Junie’s Car Rental, Junie himself alongside his delightful wife, Nancy, this spacious studio apartment is modern and comes with everything you might need, including a car, if so you wish.

The car is optional but with the headquarters of Junie’s Car Rental right next door, it is fairly easy and inexpensive to book this studio as a package deal with a vehicle included.

The studio sits on the second floor, allowing you a great view of the nearby island of St. Martin. The terrace is large, a perfect spot to lounge in the lounge chairs provided and to enjoy cocktails and meals al – fresco at the outdoor dining table.

Once inside your eyes automatically focus on the large king size bed in the room. In the corner by the sliding door is a large flat screen Smart tv with the likes of Netflix, Prime and YouTube as well as movies and tv series galore. The studio is fully air conditioned with a ceiling fan for those who’d rather a gentle breeze over a cold room.

In the back of the main room is a door leading to the laundry room, where there is a washer, dryer and large closet with plenty of hangers as well as an iron and ironing board in case you feel the need to iron while on vacation. Hey , no judgement here.

To the right of the bed is another door that leads to a humongous – there really is no other word for it – bathroom, complete with double sink, a dresser, toilet and walk – in shower.

The fully equipped kitchen sits on the side of the apartment and has its own sliding door, making it easy to move back and forth between the kitchen and the dining table on the large patio.

Who is the Junior Suite for?

Definitely for couples, solo travelers but also a couples with one child, the apartment is large enough and can accommodate a cot or additional single bed. I suggest you discuss this with Junie and Nancy prior to booking though.

Solo female travelers need not to worry. The apartment feels safe and secure. The owners live downstairs and share the lush garden and main gate into the property, while you as a guest will have complete privacy upstairs.

What are the highlights of a stay at the Junior Suite?

  • The Smart tv is definitely a nice touch and I really enjoyed a night in with take – out pizza and a movie marathon.
  • The garden is filled with fruit and coconut trees and Nancy loves to share the pickings of the garden with her guests. Whether it’s papayas, coconuts or herbs like mint and lemongrass, she always makes sure to leave some in the apartment for guests to enjoy.
  • Should you choose to rent a car along with the studio apartment, the hosts will make sure you have your own parking spot inside the yard. You will be handed a remote control for the electric gate and you can park your car right by the stairs leading to the apartment.

You can book The Junior Suite on Airbnb or directly through Facebook or Instagram or via their website. Their nightly rate is US$ 125.00 per night.
