WE STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND OCEANA AS A FABULOUS PLACE TO STAY FOR 2 WEEKS!
Anguilla’s reopening rules are stringent – currently anyone wanting to come and stay needs to apply and ‘stay in place’ for up to two weeks.
As I always want to go that extra mile for my readers, I thought it only proper that True Anguilla should ‘take one for the team’ and test out some of the Anguilla Stay in Place opportunities over the coming month.
This week I am going to tell you a little bit about Oceana Villa.
After spending a few nights in the beautiful villa Oceana my friends and I did not want to leave. Stay here and I can guarantee your 2 weeks will fly by.
So, what makes it such a great villa to ‘stay in place’ in? Here are my three top things.
The Aspect
Oceana’s aspect is second to none. This villa commands incredibly beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding area – including Sandy island, Little Bay and Crocus Bay and has the perfect aspect to watch the sun set over the ocean every night. There are very few other dwellings around and nothing interrupts your view of the ocean by day or the stars at night – from the capacious decks and gorgeous infinity pool. The house is positioned to make the most of Anguilla’s prevailing East to West breezes, and by default the sunrise and sunset. This is literally one cool and tranquil villa.
The Space
This is 50,000 square foot property with only 2 bedrooms* so it offers a luxurious amount of space per person. Two couples travelling as a unit or a family group – would have plenty of privacy and room to themselves. The top floor bedroom has access two wonderful balconies with sea views (one for sunrise and the other for sunset) where you could hide yourself away if you wanted to. The second large bedroom is on the first floor and opens onto the pool deck at the opposite end of the property – giving you lots of privacy. There is a large garden for exercising and of course a beautiful infinity pool which is long enough to swim laps or simply relax with a cocktail in hand.
*there is a sofa bed that sleeps up to two children if required.
Comfort & amenities
Oceana’s owners Rich and Michelle have created a very homely villa – despite its luxurious size. The kitchen has everything you need (even a wine fridge) and there is an excellent gas grill to BBQ on. You can dine indoors or outdoors. The beds are comfy, there is a spacious breezy lounge which also commands the views and you can sink into the outdoor furniture. There are lots of comfortable places to sit and read, think, or snooze. The bathrooms and closets are huge – so plenty of room for all your stuff. The ocean themed décor will make you feel like you are on the beach – but without the sand. You also have a super attentive villa manager Michelle Owen Vasilis on call, to help and answer any questions.
2 weeks on – Things in the area to do when you can explore!
This property is situated mid island on the north coast – so nowhere on Anguilla is more than 15 minutes away! The closest beaches are Crocus Bay, Little Bay and Katouche Bay – but you are less than 10 minutes’ drive from either Shoal Bay East or the west end beaches. If you stay make sure you walk to Katouche a special, hardly visited beach where YOU can swim, beach comb, collect fossils and even explore a small rainforest trail. Oceana’s central position means it is great for getting to the shops in the Valley, running out for local BBQ at the weekend or heading down to nearby Sandy Ground for dining and liming.
And from the experts…
I asked Rick and Michelle what they like to do when they can tear themselves away from their beautiful villa.
‘We always go to Crocus Bay and Da’vida on the first Sunday we are there, and love to look up at Oceana from the beach – we are always amazed that it is ours! We also always go to Picante very early in our trips, because it always gets us in the right mood. My wife loves going to Blanchard’s Beach Shack because it is good food, quick and fun… We also love going to Trattoria Tremonto. I cannot explain it, but to me it has the absolute coolest vibe of any restaurant on the island. I think it is an undiscovered gem. We also love Ben’s – sure doesn’t seem like much when you drive by – but the food is always outstanding. My favourite beach is Rendezvous. We pack lunch and bring our chairs or go to Garvey’s to eat. Love that you can look out and see St. Martin.‘
