A Perfect 10!

The cover for TRUE Anguilla 10 may remind you of another famous image

The inspiration for our cover came out of a conversation between me and my friend, Peter Parles of Straw Hat.

I asked him what came to mind when I said the word 10 and he mentioned the 1980 movie, 10 , the most iconic image from which was one of Bo Derek running down a beach with her white beaded braids swinging.

A memorable, free spirited expression of beach beauty fondly recalled by people of a certain age!

I knew it would make a great cover and determined to recreate it. I ran the idea past my photography partners Kevin and Devin of KSharp Media who, being a fair bit younger than I am, were unaware of the film but immediately ‘got it’ when I showed them pictures.

Next, I needed a cover star. Someone who had the patience to get her hair braded, and who could run the length of a hot beach and still look cool, so I enlisted the help of a previous cover star, marine biologist, and occasional model, Jasmin Ruan.

LodeVole Boutique provided the perfect swimsuit to create the quintessentially Anguillian colour palette of turquoise, orange and white.

We settled on exquisite, secluded Long Bay as the beach backdrop as it offered the requisite expanse of powder white sand, crystal clear water and privacy.

The date was set, Jasmin’s hair, after more than six hours in the chair, looked impeccable and mother nature smiled on us as the day dawned bright with the perfect conditions to take our amazing cover shot and the photo reproduced here.

The final result! TRUE Anguilla issue 10 cover.
